Steve MillerPresident and Founder
Mr. Miller serves as the President of Orion Exploration, LLC. Mr. Miller has been in the energy industry for nearly 40 years. He oversees all aspects of Orion, including the subsidiary Orion Energy Resources, LLC. He was the Former Chairman of Finance and Gas Marketing of McIntosh Gas Company based in Oklahoma. Mr. Miller was the sole proprietor of Miller Exploration, which drilled and operated over 100 wells in Oklahoma and Texas. He has developed oil and gas prospects in 12 different counties. Mr. Miller graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology.
Daniel B. (Skip) Honeyman, III
Vice President New Ventures, Founder
Mr. Honeyman serves as the Vice President of New Ventures for Orion Exploration, LLC and has worked in the oil and gas industry for 38 years. He is responsible for identifying potential conventional vertical and horizontal plays, including fractured carbonates, tight sandstone, shale and coal formations. He also oversees the utilization of dewatering technologies in conventional sandstone and limestone reservoirs. Mr. Honeyman previously served as Vice President for D.L. Goins and Associates, Petroleum Geologist for HS Resources, Inc., Geological/Operations Manager and Independent Consultant for Davis Brothers, LLC., and Geologist for Essex Exploration, Inc. He graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelors of Science in Geology and is a Registered and Certified Professional Geologist.
Vice President of Operations and Engineering, Founder
Mr. Brown serves as the Vice President of Operations and Engineering for Orion Exploration, LLC and has been in the oil and gas industry for 40 years. Currently, he provides project management on Orion’s drilling and production operations. Previously, Mr. Brown served as Manager of Operations for Questar Exploration, Senior Engineer for HS Resources, Manager of Operations for Tide West Oil Company, President of Operations for Wildfire Oil, Manager of Operations for Marion Corporation, Lead Engineer for Arabian American Oil Company (“Aramco”), and Production & Safety Engineer for Gulf Oil Corporation. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors of Science in Petroleum Engineering Technology.
Matthew WestfallVice President Land, Owner
Mr. Westfall serves as the Vice President of Land for Orion Exploration, LLC and he has over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He is responsible for all of the land functions within Orion, including lease negotiation and acquisition, lease records maintenance and division order preparation and oversight. Previously, he served in the land departments at Petrohawk Energy, ONEOK Resources and Unit Drilling and Exploration (now Unit Petroleum Company). Mr. Westfall graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
Graduated in the fall of 2013 from The University of Tulsa with a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. Paige is intimately familiar with the complexities of the oil and gas industry, being raised in a family that has owned, drilled, completed and operated wells the industry for three generations.
Paige began working for Orion in 2012 to provide support for the Mississippian Lime operation in Oklahoma. Her role is to conduct reserve estimates and economic analysis of exploration and development drilling opportunities. She has had extensive involvement of project analysis and technical presentations. She also worked on the generation of reserves and cash flow models for the use of budgeting and financial reporting. Currently, Paige is undertaking the evaluation of potential core area producing property acquisitions and divestitures in Oklahoma and Kansas.
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Warren joined Orion Exploration, LLC as the Chief Financial Officer in 2019, using her 13 years of experience in the industry to oversee the accounting, finance, treasury and human resource functions of the organization.Ms. Warren began her career with the Tulsa office of Ernst & Young, providing audit and assurance services to both public and private companies, primarily within the oil and gas industry.She later served in various accounting and SEC reporting roles at Samson Resources Corporation and Midstates Petroleum Company before joining Rebellion Energy as CFO in 2016.Ms. Warren remained at Rebellion Energy through 2018 and the successful transaction of the Rebellion assets.
Ms. Warren graduated with a degree in accounting and finance, summa cum laude, from Oklahoma Baptist University.She is a certified public accountant in the state of Oklahoma and is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Oklahoma State Society of CPA’s which honored her as a 2014 Trailblazer.
Trista obtained a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma, an MBA from Oklahoma Christian University and is a Certified Public Accountant with 13 year of experience, 11 years in the oil and gas industry. She brings brilliant supervisory skills and an extensive knowledge base of all facets of accounting principles and applications to the Orion management team. Prior to joining the Orion team, she provided excellence in team work at several Oil and Gas companies including, SK Plymouth, Unit Corporation, Samson Resources, Chesapeake Operating Inc. In addition, early in her career, she provided public accounting for two years for Everest Advisors.
Chris was an independent geologist for Jolen Operating Company from 2016-2018, developing conventional prospects in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. From 2013-2015, he was Lead Exploration Geologist for American Energy Partners-Woodford, responsible for the drilling and development of the $750MM Calyx Energy acquisition in North-Central Oklahoma. During his AEP tenure, Chris managed the drilling of over 70 horizontal Woodford and Mississippian wells growing that Business Unit from 500 bopd to over 8,000 bopd. Prior to AEP, he was the Chief Geologist for SW Capital backed Mt. Dora Energy. While at Mt. Dora, Chris oversaw the drilling of more than 200 vertical wells in South and North-Central Oklahoma, including the execution of a waterflood in Stephens County, Oklahoma that grew from 12 to over 600 bopd. Mt. Dora eventually sold for 3x the original investment. Chris has a varied experience, has interpreted hundreds of miles of 3D in Oklahoma and Kansas, and believes geologists should look at the rocks whenever possible. He sat most of the wells he was a part of during drilling operations in order to do so. This philosophy has lead to the generation of conventional prospects in Oklahoma and Kansas, and the discovery of 2 million barrels of oil equivalent. He has also created hundreds of millions of dollars of value in both discovery and development of unconventional plays in the mid-continent.
